Gift Ideas for Foodies With a Sweet Tooth

November 19, 2011

Y’all, I’ve never ordered from Dean & Deluca before, but my husband and I were poking around the other day looking for gifts for my family, and there is a seemingly endless variety of interesting stuff on there. Here are a few things we drooled over. (Caution: refined sugar ahead.)

Chocolate Cabernet Wine Sauce, $23 I love that this is listed under “pantry staples.” I’ve never daydreamed about a pantry before, but after reading that I think it may become a frequent occurrence. My own, featuring nuts, goji berries, beans, lentils, split peas, seaweed, and Pacific Natural Foods soup cartons suddenly seems kind of bland. I’m sure you could create your own healthier version with unrefined sweetener and a plant-based cream replacement.

Hot Ginger Caramel Sauce, $15 This is listed under “confections,” not pantry staples. That has not stopped me from adding it to my dream pantry line-up.

Chocolate Bars by Theo, $15 I’ve loved the Theo bars I’ve bought before at Whole Foods, but I’ve never come across these flavors before. Fig, Fennel, and Almond dark chocolate? Wow. I could see these making a unique hostess gift or stocking stuffer.

There are lots more ideas where those came from, so you may want to poke around. Am I the only one who routinely finds plenty of things to buy myself while holiday shopping?
