Shop Sweet Lulu

October 7, 2012

Lately I’ve realized that I truly enjoy looking at and being surrounded by pretty things. It calms me down and makes me happy.

Is everyone like this and I’m just thinking it is an individual preference? Or is it like how running is some people’s “thing” and cooking is other people’s “thing?” I don’t recall covering this in my psychology classes between Pavlov and Freud.

In any case, I came across Shop Sweet Lulu the other night (via Pinterest, of course) and loved it immediately. How could you not? The store is dedicated entirely to “party styling essentials and pretty party goods,” and three of its 16 sections have the lovely titles of Cupcakery, Stripey Straws, and Tea Party. The cupcake liners come in fashionable color palettes, like yellow/turquoise and brown/aqua. I adore the pretty floral paper to-go coffee cups. I know disposable cups are not eco-friendly, but maybe I would just keep them around for special occasions. :) And look at those cute wooden chevron spoons!

There are many more pretty pieces to explore on the site too, including stylish paper party favor bags, popcorn packaging, berry baskets and Halloween-colored bakers’ twine.

Also, lest you think that food has been completely displaced here on the blog, I want to assure you all that we do have some edible creation in the works. In fact, I just cooked a pot of fruit-flavored oatmeal for an experimental breakfast recipe tomorrow. It’s just that none of the things we’ve been eating lately are polished enough to be blog-worthy, and I’ve had lots of other lifestyle tidbits to share with you in the meantime. Do not fret, we will feast again around here soon!

Hooray, I am so glad I’ve helped you feel inspired and the good ideas are flowing! I have two more “gift idea” posts just about ready, so hopefully those will be up your alley too. :) Thanks for your feedback, Katie! I am thrilled you have liked these latest posts. :)

These are all adorable! I recently saw some very pretty things at a retail shop, NothingBundtCakes. As you can tell, they only sell bundt cakes, in many delicious flavors (and they even have a gluten-free offering). We tried the cinnamon bundt cake (they sell mini cakes that are enough for 2 people to share), and a dozen bundt cupcakes, and full sized cakes. What I like the most, though, were all the unique accessories – candles, cards, cake plates. And, if you ever let David do a post on ‘manly’ foodie accessories, he’ll need to write about the ‘Table Saw’ cake cutter. You can see a small picture of it at

Oh my gosh, what a cool store! I love the idea of the table saw cake cutter. How hilarious! I am glad you found a neat place to visit and enjoy, and especially glad they had a gluten-free cake available. Looks like we have a Nothing Bundt Cakes in Huntsville- if I get up there before I go home to CA, I will be sure to stop in and check it out! Thank you for the info, AGG, that was fun to hear about! Looks like they have lots of cute items for sale. :)
